The Theatre Academy winter session will offer an introduction on acting with Shakespeare. Students will experience a beginner’s class on learning the foundations. It’s really not difficult to understand, speak and act the Shakespearean language. Specific games and exercises will be chosen to help all feel comfortable and have fun. Monologues and scenes will be a part of the learning with a Share Time during the final session for friends and family. No experience necessary, just big imaginations. The Theatre Academy is a safe place for kids to share ideas and try new things. Our teachers create an encouraging and accepting environment so everyone feels comfortable.
The Winter Session is held on Saturdays, January 11-March 1 from 1-3 p.m.
Cost: $180.00 for 8 weeks

The Winter Session will involve learning new skills about working together on the stage. Specific games and exercises will be chosen to highlight partner work in scenes and improvisations as well as ensemble play that encourages working together for the best outcome. Other skills that will be enhanced are character building, creating the setting and understanding the conflict. All these different pieces of acting will be pulled together to help your children increase their knowledge of theatre and confidence on stage. Acting crazy, falling to the ground, cawing like a bird and just being silly are all acceptable at the Theatre Academy! Saturday classes at the Playhouse are a safe environment for fun and exciting learning.
The dates are Saturdays, January 11-March 1 from 10:30 a.m.-Noon

The 1-3 graders will explore and create characters and creatures using the greatest tool—IMAGINATION! As one of the Actors’ Tools, imagination, should be encouraged and expressed and acting class is the perfect place. Children will experience activities where they will think about, create and act out new characters. How does that person walk, talk and feel? Details will be developed as they grow in understanding and find the fun in pretending to be someone else. Students may buzz around like insects and growl, stomp and fly like animals around the stage. Outdoor voices are allowed indoors here at the Theatre Academy. Specific games and exercises will be chosen for this class. Many will make your children giggle, learn and just want more. Our experienced teaches provide a safe and comfortable space for little actors.
The dates are Saturdays, January 11-March 1 from 9-10:30 a.m.
