Hershey Area Playhouse is pleased to announce its third annual summer drama camp, June 12 through 23, 2006. The camp will be offered Monday through Friday at the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company and will culminate with a short performance on the evening of the last day of camp.

The Playhouse summer drama camp once again will be taught by Cory Wilkerson. Ms. Wilkerson directed the Playhouse’s productions of The Sound of Music and Annie and Oliver. She holds a BS in Elementary Education/ Theatre and an MS in Theatre Arts from Villanova University. Ms. Wilkerson is a freelance director who directs for area theatres and schools and consults to the State Department of Education as a specialist in theatre for youth.

Kids’ Camp Jr. is designed for children entering grades 1 & 2, and meets from 9 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. daily. Using favorite children’s stories and music, campers will learn beginning acting skills with an emphasis on creative dramatics and the imagination. This is a fast-paced theatre class for young children with an emphasis on performance. The cost is $100.00

Kids’ Camp is for children entering grades 3, 4, 5 & 6 and meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. daily. Improvisation and storytelling techniques will be interwoven with acting skills as children learn to bring to create a character and bring stories to life. The cost is $100.00.

Shakespeare Scene Study Workshop is back by popular demand and is designed for middle School and high school aged students entering grades 7 through 12 and meets from 12:30 - 2:30 pm daily. These older students will learn acting with an emphasis on scene work and performance. Shakespeare and other famous authors will become a source for learning. This is a great class to learn to prepare for audition and monologue work. The cost is $150.00.
