Hershey Area Playhouse Holding Auditions for Frankenstein

HERSHEY, Pa., Aug. 4, 2016 – Hershey Area Playhouse is holding auditions for its 2016 fall production, Frankenstein, Sunday, Aug. 21 and Monday, Aug. 22, beginning at 7 p.m. Callbacks, if needed, will also be held Aug. 22, beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Auditions will take place at the Playhouse, located at the corner of Sand Hill Road and Cherry Drive, Hershey. Roles for four men and three women are available. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the play’s script.

Written and directed by Marjorie Bicknell, and as reviewed in the Chicago Tribune, this award-winning adaptation of the celebrated novel by Mary Shelley “wisely concentrates on the philosophical and psychological questions that made the original novel so fascinating.”

Set in 1815 at Victor Frankenstein’s home in Switzerland, and at the North Pole, Frankenstein focuses on the relationship between Victor, the creator of a new life, and the Creature for whom he is responsible – a lost being without identity and companionship. This adult take on the classic horror tale goes back to its roots to find new meaning for the modern world.

Performances will be held Oct. 6-9 and 13-16, 2016 at the Playhouse. Additional audition information, including role descriptions, is available on the Playhouse’s website,
