Hershey Area Playhouse Presents Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale

HERSHEY, Pa., July 25, 2015 – Hershey Area Playhouse is proud to present Shakespeare’s tragicomedy, The Winter’s Tale, set in an imaginary world where Bohemia has a seacoast and ancient Greek oracles coexist with Renaissance sculptors.

From nightmarish to idyllic, The Winter’s Tale follows the royal families of Sicilia and Bohemia as jealousy and suspicion tear them apart. The passage of time, grace, and love, however, bring these long separated, fractured families together again in the most unlikely of circumstances.

“The story of Hermione and Leontes resonated deeply with me, as did the story of Mamilius, who observes the fallout between his parents with the fresh child’s eyes of an audience member,” said The Winter’s Tale director Kim Greenwalt. “Make sense of this old modern world as you will, and through Sicilia and Bohemia, let us continue to make sense of our own world, seeing it through the fresh eyes of children.”

Cast members include: Rob Allison as Antigonus; Duffy Batzer as Dion and Autolycus; Lindsay Brahl as Mopsa and Emilia; Bobby Calloway as Florizel; Eileen Daub as Paulina; Sarah Fieger as Dorcas; Rachel Koppenhaver as Cleomenes and Clown; Sam McQuillen as Polixenes; Haley Plott as Mamilius, and Perdita; Jess Schladebeck as Hermione; Rita Smith as Camillo and Mariner; Jen Trewhella as Archidamus, Old Shepherd; and Daniel Walton as Leontes.

The Winter’s Tale runs Aug. 14-16, 2015 at the Playhouse, located at 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey.

Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday performance begins at 2 p.m.
