Letter
from the Chairs
Dear Friends,
We are grateful to those pioneers of the Hershey Area Playhouse
for their interest, dedication and perseverance in bringing community
theatre back to Hershey after 30 years. Nine plays, four musicals
and four Cabaret Nights have been presented since 1999. These
performances have been located in a tent, two high schools, the
Rose Room at Country Meadows of Hershey and an indoor soccer
facility. Despite this obvious lack of a permanent home, the
Playhouse continues to attract increasing numbers of performers,
backstage technicians, support personnel, and enthusiastic audiences.
The Hershey Area Playhouse will have a new, permanent location
in the white barn on the Country Meadows of Hershey, Country
Meadows campus. This “home” is made possible through
the continued, generous support of the Leader Family and Country
Meadows of Hershey.
The community of Hershey recently celebrated 100 years of Milton
Hershey’s dream and vision of a town established for his
chocolate factory and a unique community for his employees. Following
a century of Mr. Hershey’s philanthropy, it is our responsibility
as citizens of this special community to become stewards of his
vision.
Now it is time to support the arts and set the stage for a community
theatre. Our $1.5 million capital campaign will meet this goal.
We need your help to renovate “the barn” into the
Hershey Area Playhouse.
With sincere thanks for your assistance,
Clarence A. Brockman
Thomas S. Davis, M.D.
